Editing Layers_

Having the ability to compose an image on separate layers, or to break down an existing image into component parts and put each part on its own separate layer, provides endless alternatives for editing the various elements that make up the image. It makes editing each element separately possible (unless, of course, you specifically want to do otherwise) and, when you're satisfied with the result, to merge the various elements seamlessly into a single layer for output. The following section looks at the means at your disposal for editing layers and some of the methods and techniques used to make the process more palatable.
