Linking Layers and Groups

You can link layers in one of several ways after you have selected two or more layers. You can:

■ Click the "Link layers" icon in the bottom of the Layers palette.

■ Choose Link Layers from the Layer menu.

■ Choose Link Layers from the palette menu.

■ Right-click (Windows), Ctrl-click (Mac OS) on one of the selected layer tiles and choose from the contextual menu.

■ Ctrl+Right-click (Windows), ^+Ctrl-click (Mac OS) on the image content and choose Link Layers from the contextual menu.

You can select all linked layers in a set to work on them collectively. Doing so also makes it easy to unlink all the linked layers in a set in one go, as opposed to scrolling the layers, selecting the linked layers one by one, and then unlinking them.

WOTEl Selecting all linked layers does not mean all linked layers, just the layers linked to the active layer. So, if you have two or three sets of linked layers, you have to invoke the command two or three times.

To select all linked layers, select one in the chain and then choose one of the following methods.

■ Choose Select Linked Layers from the Layer menu.

■ Choose Select Linked Layers from the palette menu.

■ Right-click (Windows), Ctrl-click (Mac OS) on the layer tile and then choose Select Linked Layers.

■ Right-click (Windows), Ctrl-click (Mac OS) in the image window and choose Select Linked Layers from the contextual menu.
