Painting_

The various painting tools in Photoshop allow you to apply color as an artist would apply color to a canvas or wet media. Chief among the painting tools is the Brush tool, followed closely by the Gradient tool and the Fill command. Other tools, such as the Eraser, Blur, and Smudge tools are used to modify existing color.

To untap the power of the painting engine, it pays to spend some time in the Brushes palette and learn how the different dynamic settings affect the brush strokes. For example, you not only can customize each brush tip extensively but also set the color dynamics, brush shape dynamics, texture, and the way the paint is scattered. The combination of the customizable tool tips and brush dynamics alone makes the Brush tool incredibly powerful. To add to the explosive mixture, you can set controls for fade, pen pressure, and stylus wheel. Furthermore, the options bar also contains options that you can include in the preset, chief among them being the blending mode option.
