Protecting Layer Content

Having worked on a layer or group extensively, you might want to protect the content partially or wholly from being painted or edited. You can do this in three ways:

■ To lock a single layer, click the appropriate icons just above the layer stack in the Layers palette

■ Choose Layer ^ Lock All Layers in Group (Figure 6-8)

■ Choose Lock All Layers in Group from the palette menu

TIP If you want to unlock multiple layers, select them and then choose Lock Layers from the Layer menu or the Layers palette menu. Although the icons in the Layers palette will not lock/unlock multiple selected layers, the menu commands will.
