Scrolling and Zooming Multiple Views

After you have created a duplicate window(s), you can synchronize both the zooming and the scrolling between the parent and the populated windows. You can do this in two ways: one, by selecting the appropriate options for the Zoom and Hand tools and, two, by using a keyboard shortcut.

To use tool options, select the tool and then, for the Hand tool, select Scroll All Windows and, for the Zoom tool, Zoom All Windows. If you prefer not to set the tool options permanently, you can modify their behavior temporarily by holding down the Shift key as you drag with the Hand tool or click with the Zoom tool. Note: When you click with the Zoom tool, the display always centers on the clicked area.

You are not confined to using the tools to scroll and zoom. You can use the usual keyboard shortcuts assigned to them but, to synchronize the windows, add the Shift key. For instance:

■ To scroll, use Spacebar+Shift.

■ To zoom in, use Ctrl+Spacebar+Shift (Windows), ^ + Spacebar+Shift (Mac OS).

■ To zoom out, substitute Alt for Control (Windows), Opt for Command (Mac OS).
