Making Real World Edges

A good option for making interesting photo edges is to create edges in the real world, and then scan these into the computer to create digital versions. Good options for real world objects include torn paper, painted edges, images from negative carriers, and edges from Polaroid film. Just tear, paint, print, and expose to make these objects and scan them into the computer to create a digital file.

Once you have a digital file, use the Levels tool to set the B&W points on these images so that most of the image pixels are pure black or pure white.
