Elements

Elements is Adobe's amateur photographer-level imaging program. Elements has a large toolbox, as shown in Figure 12-1, filled with selection, color correction, and retouching tools. Here are a few other things you can do with Elements:

i Size your images.

i Change color modes. Color modes define the color values used to display an image and affect the number of colors shown, the size of the files, and other characteristics.

i Apply color, shapes, and stylized text to your images.

i Merge photos and construct photo collages using layering techniques.

i Add bevels, shadows, glows, and other special effects and filters to jazz up your images.

It's actually quite amazing that a program with a price of $90 can do all this and more. Check out Color Plate 12-5 to see this program in action.
