Your Files Are "Broken"

Problem: You notice broken page icons on the thumbnails of your images in the Photo Well.

Possible cure: These icons, shown in Figure 21-3, indicate that your files are missing. Or at least Album thinks they are. Album works on the system of linking. Linking places a low-resolution, proxy image in your catalog with a link to the original, full-resolution image on your hard drive. If you move a photo, video clip, or audio clip from its original location to a new one, Album can't find the file and considers it missing. You just need to use the Reconnect Missing File command and show Album where the file now resides.

The Reconnect command doesn't work for files that have been renamed outside of Album or even worse, deleted from your hard drive. For details on reconnecting missing files, see Chapter 7.
