For information on how to turn on the thumbnail views in the Layers palette, see the previous tip, "Turn On Thumbnail Views to Help Layer Recognition."
One of the most efficient ways to speed up your use of the Layers palette is also the simplest of all management techniques—name your layers. You can name layers in Photoshop in two ways:
• As a layer is being created
• After a layer is created
While it may sound like more trouble than it's worth to go back and name all your layers after creating them, I can promise you it'll save lots of time in the long run, because you won't have to click through all the layers looking for a particular element.
