► Note

For proper handling of breaks within words, make sure the correct dictionary is selected in the Character palette (choose Window I Character).

TRY IT To turn hyphenation on or off for justified paragraphs in Photoshop, choose Window I Paragraph to display the Paragraph palette. Photoshop defaults to allowing hyphenation, as you can tell by the check mark in the box next to Hyphenate at the bottom of the Paragraph palette. To turn off the hyphenation feature, uncheck that box.

TRY IT To further customize specific instances when words should or shouldn't be hyphenated, click the triangle in the upper-right corner of the Paragraph palette to reveal the palette menu. Select Hyphenation to display a set of options similar to those shown in the following illustration.
