TRY IT To fill a type layer with a photo, first choose Window | Layers to make sure the Layers palette is visible, and that it includes both a layer with text on it and another layer with a photograph.

Then, position the layer with the photo directly above the type layer in the Layers palette. Hold down the ALT (Windows) or OPTION (Mac) key and click the line in between the two layers in the Layers palette to combine them into a clipping group. After doing so, the type layer becomes underlined in the Layers palette and filled with the contents of the layer above (see Figure 7-11 for an example).
