Most scanners come with a utility or plug-in that allows you to scan your images right into Photoshop. The utility or plug-in uses the industry-standard TWAIN interface to import the scan.
Before you can scan an image, you must make sure the utility or plug-in is installed properly and is working with Photoshop. Consult the documentation that came with your scanner if you're unsure about how to install the software. If you can't find your documentation, check the company's web site for an updated plug-in (some companies may call the scanner plug-in a "driver").
